June 3, 2026 Just over a week ago, Julie traveled to Chattanooga to be with her father while he underwent what was expected to be a routine angioplasty procedure. Like many families would, we expected a short trip, a successful procedure, and a quick return home. Instead, the angioplasty revealed more serious concerns than anyone anticipated. Doctors quickly determined that open-heart surgery was necessary, and what began as a weekend trip suddenly became something much bigger. On Thursday, May 28, Julie’s father underwent quadruple bypass surgery. As our family shifted its focus toward supporting him through surgery and recovery, Driftwood Diner found itself in an unexpected position. With Julie remaining in Chattanooga and Casey managing another business during one of its busiest seasons of the year, there simply wasn’t much extra capacity to keep everything running as usual.
