Smaller Crowds, Bigger Conversations

  We’re ready for a little ordinary around here. Coffee brewing. Biscuits baking. Familiar faces walking up. Somebody pulling up a chair and staying longer than they planned. After the year our family has had, that sounds pretty wonderful. 2026 has brought loss, worry, and more time tending to family matters than we ever expected. We’ve had to pause, adjust, and remind ourselves that being a family business means sometimes the family needs us somewhere other than the kitchen. And if we’re being honest, we wouldn’t mind if 2027 arrived with a lighter suitcase. This year packed entirely too much. But there’s still plenty of good to enjoy right here, right now. As the island settles into a quieter rhythm, we’re finding our footing again, too. The crowds get a little smaller. The conversations get a little bigger. There’s more time to ask how you’ve been and actually stick around for the answer. That’s a part of Driftwood Diner we dearly love. For Julie, this place truly is her happy p...
